A Quick Doppelganger Status Update (February 18, 2026)
Hey everyone, just dropping in for a quick chat and a status update on what’s been happening with Doppelganger lately. It’s been a busy few weeks, so here is the good, the bad, and the cool.
The Good: Auto-Save is Finally Here If you’ve ever spent an hour perfectly chaining together a complex browser automation flow only to accidentally close the tab or lose connection—you can officially exhale. Auto-save is now live. Doppelganger will continuously save your workflow states in the background, so you don't have to worry about losing your progress. It’s a small quality-of-life update, but one that should make building out your scraping and automation tasks a lot less stressful.
The Bad: The Templates Hub is... Pending (Thanks, DNS) I was originally planning to use this post to announce the official launch of the Doppelganger Templates Hub—a central place to grab pre-built automation flows so you don't have to start from scratch. The code is ready, the templates are staged, but DNS is currently failing me. As always, it's always DNS. I’m currently wrestling with the routing, so keep an eye out. It’ll be up as soon as the internet decides to cooperate.
The Cool: Approaching 300 Stars Another huge piece of good news: we are creeping up on 300 stars on GitHub! I know in the grand scheme of open-source projects that might seem like a small number, but to me, it’s a massive signal. It means people are actually finding the tool, spinning it up, and getting real value out of it.
Speaking of visibility, we’ve been listed on the selfh.st directory for a bit now, but for some reason, our icon was stubbornly refusing to render. Good news: that visual bug is officially squashed! It’s incredibly rewarding to see Doppelganger properly repping its colors alongside so many other great projects in the self-hosted space.
A huge thank you to everyone who has been running the containers, giving feedback, and starring the repo. I'll be back with another update once the Templates Hub is actually resolving. Until then, make sure to pull the latest image to get the auto-save features.
Happy automating!
